Sirius College Student Leadership Positions

Sirius College offers students a number of different ways to develop their leadership skills and use their voice to support our school and the wider community. One way students can do this at Sirius College is through the Student Representative Council (SRC).

The student council is responsible for organising and supporting school activities and events such as athletics, performing arts, and other clubs’ activities. The council plans many school wide activities throughout the year including: Multicultural weeks, social events, charity support, dress up days and other fun and exciting activities.

While supporting these social and charitable events, students also develop personal leadership skills and an understanding of group dynamics. The SRC seeks to foster in students a better understanding of themselves and their capacity for leadership, to create an understanding of the importance of leadership in a democratic society, and to prepare students to assume leadership roles in the school and community.

This year the expressions of interest for the SRC team were outstanding. With more than 60 applications from hard working students with big ideas, it was quite difficult to narrow down the list and create the final team. Clearly, this demonstrates the nature of our school to be kind, supportive and willing to help others.

SIRIUS TALK

Sirius Talk is the student run newspaper at Sirius College. It is entirely written and edited by the students, for the students. They dedicate time outside of school hours to use their voices to connect with their peers. Sirius Talk features an array of topics, ranging from current events to study tips to entertaining ‘Who Am I’ articles. Congratulations to students for making the team.

GARDEN CREW

Last year, Sirius College established the Garden Crew. The Garden Crew is made up of students who are passionate about our environment and taking care of our school.
